NORTH BERWICK

We were tasked with taking on this complete renovation in North Berwick – starting with a two bed single story flat, an extension was added, and we worked almost from scratch. Our brief was to maximise storage, and create a multifunctional space that would accomodate an ever-changing household. The client was heavily inspired by timeless 1970s style, and we drew upon this when selecting quality, and classic pieces and materials. Cork flooring was used throughout, with the material being used cohesively in other areas too – cladding a hidden cupboard, bar stools and side tables also made of cork. We added bespoke panelling to the ceiling to draw the eye and create dimension; this cladding was brought downwards in the entrance hall, and we used it to disguise a cupboard to be used for shoe storage. More hidden storage was created, disguised by a full length, ‘floating’ shelf that was clad in real burr veneer and tiled with handcrafted zellige for the hearth. Log storage and necessary, but unsightly utilities are now stored in the space created underneath. We produced in-house bespoke upholstery in the form of headboards and bench seating, constructed in durable and modern fabrics, and the floors were then layered with vintage rugs to help give balance. We wanted the kitchen to feel practical, but sleek. The counter was made bespoke, in 5mm stainless steel – robust but modern. The lower cabinets were professionally sprayed a bespoke colour that ties the open plan living area together.

It was a joy to bring this property to it’s full potential.
